Robarts died by suicide on October 18, 1982. He had been suffering from depression as a result of both the 1977 suicide of his son, Timothy, and a series of debilitating strokes. He is buried in St. James Cemetery in Toronto.

How do I return a book to Robarts?
You can return your books to Robarts Library, including books from other University of Toronto libraries. You need not enter the building to return your books. There is a book drop outside the Robarts Library building on the St. George Street side, to the left of the revolving door entrance.
Is U of T library open to public?
Most U of T libraries are open to the public. Robarts Library’s book stacks (floors 9-13) are closed to the public unless you have a U of T library card or stacks access card. Without one of those, you can still use LIRA workstations that will give you access to the internet and our online resources.
