How do I extend my library book?
How to renew a title
- In your library’s digital collection, select. to go to your Loans page.
- Select the Renew button under the title you’d like to renew.
- Choose an option for the length of the renewal (if available).
- After you renew the title, you’ll see the new due date and options to open or download it.
How do I know when my library book is due?
Click on your name at the top right hand corner and then My Library Account. You will be able to see your loans, due dates, and any requests and fines you have.
How do I renew my Libby book?
To renew a title in Libby: Tap the bookshelf icon, then tap loans at the top of the screen. Tap Manage Loan next to the title you want to renew. Tap Renew Loan, then Renew.
Can you take library books back to any library UK?
More than 4,000 libraries in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are in the Society of Chief Librarians initiative. Existing membership cards or a proof of address will allow people to use any library in the scheme, although books have to be returned to the same area.

Replace Lost Materials – Borrowers may opt to replace lost materials rather than pay replacement fees. Replacement of material is subject to library staff approval. Processing, overdue and rebinding fees may apply if replacement material is accepted.

Libby is a fast and attractive digital browsing experience. Libby is great if you just want to download a book to your Android or iOS phone or tablet. OverDrive is the “classic” app, and is compatible with more devices, including Kindle Fire and Windows mobile devices.
Does Libby automatically return books?
Books are automatically returned to the library on their due date. When they’re returned, they’re also removed from your Loans and deleted from your device (if downloaded). If you’ve borrowed the book from multiple libraries, select the due date for the copy you’d like to return.
How long can you wait to borrow a book on Libby?
The lending period is 21 days for an eBook or eAudiobook. You can adjust the checkout time to 7 or 14 days if you don’t need the full 21 days. How many titles can I check out at once? You can check out up to 25 titles at one time.
Can you get books out of library?
Yes! Libraries allow patrons to borrow e-books or audiobooks through online systems or applications you can download to your smartphone. Visit your local library’s website for more information.
Can you return library books to another library?
We thus often get asked if our items can be returned to other local libraries, or if items from other area public libraries can be returned here. The short answer is “yes” to both questions for most items (but see the exceptions regarding Interlibrary Loan and LINKin below).

Adults can borrow up to 20 books, 10 DVDs and 10 CDs. Under-18s can borrow up to 20 books and 10 CDs. In addition you can borrow up to four ebooks from our eBooks.
